‘The Sixth Sense’ is one of those movies for which I never had read its summary before I actually went on to watch it. Basically, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. After watching it, I was still a bit baffled under which genre would this movie be categorized under. ‘The Sixth Sense’ is a semi psychological thriller coupled along with a hint of horror which deals with a child’s schizophrenia and his ability to witness the supernatural. Bruce Willis portrays the role of Dr. Malcolm Crowe, an award winning child psychiatrist, who is pretty perturbed after a failed case and a violent event with the respective patient which followed. After a year or so, Dr. Crowe took up a similar case, the case of Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment). Since, he was highly committed this time around, he hasn’t been sleeping much or spends much time with his loving wife. When Dr. Crowe went into the depths of Cole’s case, he realized the case wasn’t just related to a mere child’s schizophrenic dilemma. This movie was written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, who is quite famous when it comes to concepts relative to the supernatural and unforeseen twists in the plot and he didn’t disappoint in this flick. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay (M. Night Shyamalan), Best Actor in a Supporting Role(Haley Joel Osment), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Toni Collette), and Best Editing (Andrew Mondshein). Though, it won none for obvious reasons. Even with its strong mystical feel, ‘The Sixth Sense’ did have its own set of drawbacks. Firstly, the overall acting throughout the movie wasn’t inspiring; the dialogues were pretty corny and stale and on top of it all, the movie should’ve been a tad longer to explain certain events which aren’t supposed to be left for the viewer’s imagination, which is exactly what the movie does.
Keeping this flick’s drawbacks aside, one could easily appreciate the way most of the sequences in the movie falling into place, slowly and unseen. I must admit that I was blind-sided by the ending; I never expected such a sudden twist to come by my way. By far, ‘The Sixth Sense’ is among the few movies which made me say ‘Holy $417’ with its ending. I would highly recommend ‘The Sixth Sense’ to movie fans who would appreciate a decent horror/psychological-thriller flick which plays with their minds rather than their stomachs, since there are enough startling chilling moments throughout the movie coupled along with a serious & original storyline.

Enticing, to say the least. There are two things you ought to do: 1. Supply your readers with free DVDs to the movies you review :P 2. Join the mass media as a professional movie critic.
