Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind.

Have you ever wondered? Wouldn’t it be blissful to completely forget the person without whom you cannot bare to live on? Or completely erase all your memories of them, even to the point where their existence itself is wiped out from your brain to begin with? ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ is one of those works of art which mixes black comedy, tragical romance, metaphysics and surrealism. It is by far the best work done by Screen writer Charlie Kaufman, whose earlier works were also related with respect to exploring the complexities of the human mind[Adaptation, Being John Malkovich].In ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ Kaufman surpasses himself with originality and quality. The movie went on to win an Academy Award for ‘The Best Original Screenplay Category’ and also, Kate Winslet was nominated for her role for ‘The Best Actress Category’ .

It’s another usual boring day for Joel [Jim Carrey] waiting at the station to catch the next train to head for work. It was Valentine’s day and Joel hated it, after all Valentine’s day was created by greeting card companies to make their own profits and also make loners like Joel feel miserable on this day every year. Joel was never impulsive, he was too sickened with life and his existence to be impulsive. But, at that particular moment he felt like ditching work and take a train to Montauk and have a walk at the beach. Why did he act in such a non-Joel way? Was it Impulsion? Destiny? Or something else? Joel meets a blue haired woman named Clementine[Kate Winslet] and immediately knows he doesn’t have any chance with her. After all Joel can never make any eye contact with a woman he doesn’t know. Clementine breaks the ice and asks Joel, “Do I know you”? Joel’s answer was a confirmed "*Blank*". Now the real question arises, what made Joel and Clementine be the only people to be walking around in a deserted beach in the middle of a harsh winter? Now, let me not provide any spoilers, as an avid movie-lover like myself, I know what a spoiler can do with us lot.

Despite the movie jumps through various perplexing hoops of its own story, ’Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ does have a very strong emotional core which makes it blend perfectly. Joel and Clementine deviously go through various stages of romance and reality, what remains constant is the human need for love and companionship, and the human compulsion to keep seeking it, despite all odds.

From over a year,I came to realize my gift of appreciating various awe-inspiring forms of art.One them being movies.No matter of what language or peculiarity,if the particular art fulfills a certain set of aspects and provide it's admirer to be completely lost in a world of total inventiveness,then it's definitely worth watching.I have been reviewing movies from all over the globe from mid 2008 and my analysis has been compatible with most of the acclaimed critics.Ninty percent of my predictions came true for the Oscar winners in 2009,this clearly puts me in a position to decide whether a movie is worth watching or not.Without any further delay,allow me to explain my rating system.

7) 1-point for ‘Audio’.[Inludes dialogue delivery,SFX and in-movie music.]
8) 1-point for ‘Visuals’.[Includes how well the sets blend in with respect to the concept/Cinematography.]

10) 1-point for ‘Make-up’.[Includes the screen actor’s appearance and sense of dressing with respect to the concept of the movie.]
